At the beginning of this week I had the absolute pleasure to photograph a fellow redhead and twin mama, the gorgeous Kirsty who came all the way to Glasgow for her maternity portraits. I had the opportunity to style and prepare her session, originally designed as a fine art portrait session in mind. I originally planned on using an off white gown but came across a teal version of it and I just couldn't resist, it was meant to be and the perfect shade for Kirsty. On the day we started inside with studio settings and natural light because while I love controlling light with newborn sessions, there is something absolutely magical as to how natural light compliments the shape of a body growing new life, it brings out all the beauty of it.
It was rainy and a little bit cold but it is Scotland so we knew that despite it being May it was a risk, nevertheless Kirsty was very brave and agreed to go venture outside for some portraits... we carried a coat that was put on and off to make sure she did not freeze and it was a very good idea as the wind picked up midway through. This being said, it was most definitely worth braving the weather!
We then headed back to the studio. We started chatting about pregnancy and all things twins, I was so happy for her as in my experience so far twins have been absolutely wonderful. There still was time, I had taken all the portraits I needed for a mini Fine Art session and asked Kirsty if there were any other portraits she had in mind. She mentioned some images she had seen on Pinterest and while it we decided at the last minute to add some lifestyle portraits to her session. I grabbed a few items I knew I had and voilà, we created some more magic and I am so glad we did because these lifestyle portraits are pure perfection. I added them to my portfolio so you can easily view them on the website. I usually shoot lifestyle sessions either at home or in my lifestyle studio (this is a very helpful feature especially during late pregnancy or early newborn days so you do not have to set your home for the session or worry about moving furniture, just come over for your session, relax and enjoy it!).
I am so glad for such a beautiful session and I look forward to hearing more about Kirsty's journey and wish her and her husband all the best!
